Drugstore to Dior

Everyday I hear from clients who are overwhelmed by the endless beauty and cosmetic options!

Basics of beauty and questions to ask yourself:
1. How would you define your beauty style? Natural, Glam, Trendy, etc
2. How much time would you like to dedicate (key word) to your beauty routine?
3. What is your beauty and cosmetics budget? Every client's beauty budget is different...I personally would spend $75 on the PERFECT lipstick but only $10 on mascara!

There are quality products that won't break your budget, which perform just as well as any counter brand! What drugstore brands are lacking include (but are not limited to): pigment concentration, research, key anti-aging products, and fancy packaging.

Some of my faves:
L'Oreal Million Lashes (AMAZING is an understatement)
CoverGirl Lash Blast Mascara (original orange tube!!)
Revlon Photo Stay Foundation (great stuff, lightweight yet full coverage)

Some of my FAVORITE counter products:
Smashbox Primer (primer is THE key to a happy marriage with you foundation)
Estee Lauder More than Mascara
Cargo Better than Waterproof Mascara (for all of you that have watery eyes, yet prefer not to look like a raccoon the next day)

Email meg@makeupartistrybymeg.com with any questions! My product reviews are based upon my tried and true performance with the product!

XOXO
Meg

Only the best trials!

Hello, Ladies!

How lucky am I to have such wonderful clients?! I am fortunate enough to "work" everyday with amazing women on one of the most important days of their lives! Some who have been planning since childhood...

With that in mind, let's chat about the makeup trial!! To ensure that you have an AMAZING trial, I do recommend that you bring the following to any makeup trial (be with me or any other artist):

*Photos of your ceremony and reception venue.
*Photos of your wedding dress. If you will be changing into a reception dress, please bring an image of such with you!
*Any images of makeup that you like from magazines (keep in mind the post-editing work that is done on a majority of print) or other lovely brides on Facebook/Twitter. Know what you like about each image.
*If you have had your hair trial, bring an image of that as well.
*Wear the right color to your trial! If you wear a fushia shirt to your trial, but are wearing an ivory gown, the "look" will feel off!!

Questions that a FABULOUS makeup artist will ask you:

*How do you want to FEEL when you look into the mirror on your wedding day?!
*How would you describe your wedding?
*What concerns do you have for your skin/makeup?
*What features do you LOVE? What are your least favorite?
*How would your friends and family describe your look? (They know you best!!)
*How will you be wearing your hair? Hair design and color plays a huge role in the outcome of your completed makeup look.
*Venue...I always visit my bride's wedding sites to know the lighting!
*Who is your photographer?! If I haven't worked with a particular photographer before, I study their work...Photography is a huge investment! A great makeup artist will enhance even the best photographer!!

Don't hesitate to ask as many questions as you need during your trial?! There are never too many questions! Likewise, a great makeup artist will ask LOADS of questions.
